Description

13x Emmy nominated, 3x Best of Photojournalism winning documentary filmmaker, executive producer, creative director, showrunner, field producer, writer, director, and project manager. Experienced in small-budget films to multi-million dollar national broadcaster budgets. Credits include NBC, PBS, The New York Times, Newsweek, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Vibe, The Independent, Hearst, ICP and several indie films. Starting my career as a set builder and PA, I joined Sound as a boom operator, moving up over 20 years to managing editor and head of production at NBC, PBS and Newsweek. With strong ethical foundations and talent for uncovering truth, I excel in collaboration and offer expertise in producing, editing, camera, interviewing, grant writing, project management, scriptwriting, sound design, story development and more. Passionate about filmmaking as an honor and responsibility, I emphasize teamwork and am committed to supporting colleagues in every aspect of production.

Special Skills & Experience

Over 20 years of experiences in independent film, newspapers, magazines, TV, XR/MR, experiential films and more. Strong journalistic ethics, project management and skill set that ranges from producing, writing editing and directing to technical skills in lighting, sound and camera. Researcher, field producer and fixer. No task is too big or too small, my passion for the craft and my 20+ years in filmmaking are my drive to excel for you. One area I have found the most success is as in script consulting, story development, film editing and helping filmmakers define and craft their vision. When requested, I have also continued through a project as a field producer, grant writer, consultant and/or impact campaign designer. Some have described me a "story doula," (a nickname I earned for helping a filmmaker take a sprawling 4 year/400+ hour project to an 80 min feature) and industry contacts regularly send me clients who have spent 5 years shooting raw footage and need help finding their story. Though consulting, story structure exercises, scripting and editing their first rough cut, I help them define their vision. I have also worked from scratch to pitch, budget, show run and assemble crews for new TV series, web shorts, interactive films and feature docs at PBS, NBC and Newsweek.
